Comprehensive Course on Fluorescence Microscopy

Introduction to Image Processing and Analysis

Approximate Time: 1-2 hours
Pre-requisite: None

This course can be generalized, but is usually tailored to a user's specific needs. Using their own images, users are shown various quantification techniques such as intensity measurement, counting, etc using either ImagePro Analyzer or Metamorph software. They will also learn how to recognize digital information embedded in their images. More specifically, the course will cover:

  • Navigating within the software environment
  • Accessing image details and information
  • Contrast, brightness and gamma correction
  • Annotations
  • Image calibration and scale bars
  • Spatial measurements
  • Threshold measurements, including intensity measurements and counting objects
  • Choosing areas of interest
  • Pseudo Colour and Image Overlays
